The best of Brazilian Cinematography!

Southern Mirrors, along with its partner Puente, present the fifth edition of BRAFFTv – Brazilian Film and TV Festival of Toronto celebrating Brazilian recent cinematography.

This year’s four-day festival features a vibrant line-up of shorts, animation, documentaries and features. The opening session on September 29th will be held at TIFF Bell Lightbox and will feature the Canadian premiere of the film Rosa Morena. Directed by Carlos Augusto de Oliveira, the co-production between Brazil and Denmark was nominated for Best Film at the São Paulo International Film Festival and received the Jury’s Special Award at the same Festival; it has also received Best First Feature Award at the Cinequest Festival in California.

For the second year, in partnership with the Toronto Public Library, the Festival will be presenting a PRE-BRAFFTv session on September 22nd at 6pm at the Palmerston Library (FREE). The awarded film “Estomago – A Gastronomic Story" was chosen to kick off the Festival.

The Competitive Program will be held from September 30th to October 2nd at the Carlton Cinema (20 Carlton Street) with 28 films (10 feature films and 18 short/medium length films) competing for the Golden Maple Award.

Short/Medium: 3x4, The Factory, She Came Along, Turkish Coffee, The Box, The Little Brazilian Red Riding Hood, Sweet Dutch Brazil, Ferocity Between The Urbs And The Flora, Laura, My Fear, The Cake, Off Making, The Magnificent, Pau Brasil, Second Movement for Piano and Needlework, Pcycle, The Payback, Another Essay.
