LA LEON
Perhaps the most visually breathtaking film at Inside Out this year, Santiago Otheguy’s transcendent La León is a hushed black-and-white film set on the scenic, remote Paraná Delta of northern Argentina. The film poetically evokes a state of longing in its portrait of two men at odds. Subdued and atmospheric, set in a place that seems frozen in time, La León is as much about the sublime landscape as it is about the tense battle between two isolated men.

Gabriela Golder is an Argentinean audio-visual artist. Curator and University professor of new technologies in Video Art. She has been an artists in residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts, Canada (1998), at the CICV, France (1996 & 1999), at the Kunsthochschule fur Medien, Germany (2003), in the Balmoral, Germany (2004) and in the Wexner Center for the Arts, USA (2005).

She has been awarded the Media Art Award of ZKM (2003), Germany, first Prize at the el Salon Nacional de Artes Visuales (2004), first prize at Videobrasil (2003), the Festival Videoformes prize, France and the Tokio Video Award, Japan (2002). She is Director with Andres Denegri of CONTINENTE, a center for research of electronic art.

Currently she is guest teacher at the Universite du Quebec in Montreal. Gabriela will be talking about her artistic video productions and she will present excerpts from her installations. The artist talk will be moderated by Jorge Lozano and Guillermina Buzio
